What makes this coffee special is that we have full traceability for this coffee. It is from the harvest of 5 small farmers, each owning about .5 acres of land. We taste blood orange acidity and flavors mixed in some sweeter cream fudge notes.

Afrodis Gahonzire is the manager of the Akagera washing station. It is located near the southern shores of lake Kivu, in the Bushekeri sector of the Western province.

More importantly, what makes this coffee special is that we have full traceability for this coffee. It is from the harvest of 5 small farmers, each owning about .5 acres of land. In addition of Afrodis’ coffee, you are drinking the coffee from Azitha Urwijumukondo, Athanase Fatisuka, Gratien Nkejuwimy, and Froduard Rusingizandekwe. Keep in mind that the regular way of handling coffee in Rwanda is for washing stations to buy cherries from small farmers without further traceability that the station itself. So knowing the names of who grew the coffee is exceptional.

This is the second time we feature coffee from BAHO, an operator of washing stations in Rwanda. We greatly appreciate the work done by them and by Semilla, who imported the coffees. We are confident that you’ll come to appreciate the work done as the cup is delicious.

We taste blood orange acidity and flavors mixed in some sweeter cream fudge notes.
